• Cian McNamara, Managing Director
  

  As Managing Director at Vulcan Solutions, Cian is focused on developing the company strategy, and continuing the growth of the company.  Central to this is the strengthening of the company's position as a leading provider of mission critical business applications on Microsoft platforms.

  Cian promotes a customer-focused and professional environment at Vulcan Solutions. He has direct responsibility for the business development function, and is particularly focused on extending the company's reach through the establishment of suitable partner relationships.

  Cian's education and experience is a mix of IT, engineering, manufacturing and finance. He has worked with Vulcan Solutions, in various roles, since 2001. Prior to this, Cian worked in management positions with Modus Media International and the Smurfit Group. 

  Cian is a board member of ITAG (Galway’s IT Association). He holds a Masters in Engineering Science, a Degree in Engineering and a Certified Diploma in Accounting & Finance.

• Anthony Johnstone, Operations Director
  

  As Operations Director at Vulcan Solutions, Tony is focused on maintaining Vulcan Solutions' position as one of Ireland's most innovative and consistent software houses. With a 35 year career in IT management and software development, Tony brings a wealth of experience to his role.

  Tony was a founding director of Vulcan Solutions in 1989. He has been pivotally involved in the successful delivery of several of our major system implementations in the insurance and financial services sector, including key projects for Bank of Ireland, One Direct (Postbank) and Hibernian Aviva. Tony's unique combination of business domain expertise and technical expertise enables him to make valuable contributions to our customer engagements.

  Throughout the company's history, Tony has ensured that Vulcan Solutions has built and maintained its technical expertise. He has championed a culture of ongoing research and development, so that we can continue to bring an industry-leading and relevant offering to our customers.

  Tony holds Masters Degrees in Mathematics and Computing, a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering, and a Bachelors Degree in Law.

• Joseph McGeever, Chief Technology Officer
  

  As CTO at Vulcan Solutions, Joseph manages our Research & Development, Product Development, Technical Support and IT functions.

  Joseph ensures that we achieve excellence in our technology deliverables and our own internal IT operations. He is responsible for the R&D programme at Vulcan Solutions, and he defines and maintains the technical roadmap for our product-set. He is also responsible for the definition and application of our software development standards and methodologies, in line with best industry practice.

  Joseph has a particular focus on developing the technical capabilities of our software development teams. He ensures that we achieve excellence in our solution designs, with a focus on scalability, performance, maintainability, and usability. He maintains and enhances the technical expertise in the organisation, through delivery of strategic training programmes.

  Joseph has 12 years of IT career experience. Prior to joining Vulcan Solutions (in 2005), Joseph held technical consultancy and architect roles, with Accenture, IBM and other organisations. He has designed and managed software implementations across a wide range of sectors, which include financial services, banking, defence, government and education.

  Joseph holds a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and is Microsoft Certified in the SQL Server and .Net disciplines.

• Patricia Hughes, Senior Project Manager
  

  Patricia is a Senior Project Manager with over 20 years of experience in the design, development and implementation of software systems. She brings a value-adding approach to project delivery, which is based on "knowing the business", and developing close and open relationships with her customers. Her systems and business expertise includes enterprise banking and financial systems, general insurance, pensions, ERP systems, systems integration, data migration and analytics.

  While at Vulcan Solutions, Patricia has delivered enterprise-scale software solutions for a number of major organisations, including Bank of Ireland, CitiFinancial, and Postbank. She has also managed the development of our credit union business system solution, in conjunction with our partners ICE.

  Patricia manages the QA and Support functions at Vulcan Solutions. She is particularly focused on ensuring we achieve quality and consistency in all of our deliverables, and that we are responsive and efficient in supporting our customers.

  Patricia has worked with Vulcan Solutions since 1991. She began her career as a software developer with Datacare in Monaghan, and she suqsequently worked with Primark.

  Patricia holds an MSc in Technology Management.

• Mark Barry, Senior Project Manager
  

  Mark is a Senior Project Manager with 20 years of experience in software project delivery. He applies best practices in project management, coupled with broad practical experience, to ensure successful delivery for his customers.

  In his role at Vulcan Solutions, Mark has deliverd large programmes of work to major clients, including One Direct (An Post) and Hibernian Aviva. Typically these programmes have encompassed analysis, development, implementation and support activities. He also has key domain expertise in relation to general insurance business in particular.

  Prior to joing Vulcan Solutions (in 2002), Mark followed a traditional software career path from Developer to Technical Consultant, then to Business Analyst to Project and Programme Manager. Mark gained broad and diverse experience as a consultant within Vision. Subsequently he was a founding employee of Marrakech, where he headed up the product management group.

  Mark is a Project Manager certified by the IPMA with a proven track record of delivering multiple projects concurrently and managing support teams in parallel. Mark's career path has given him an excellent grounding in both technology and business process design. Mark has extensive experience in many sectors, particularly in the areas of Insurance (General) and Banking (Retail, Web & Corporate). Mark holds a Bachelors Degree in Science.
